Our subconscious mind makes up 95-98% of our mind and contains a “mental movie” of everything that has happened in our lives. This is where our habits, behaviour, conditioning, feelings, phobias, etc., based on our past experiences, are stored. We unconsciously draw on those old, unwelcomed, ‘familiar’ beliefs & attitudes until new ones are introduced.
We ‘hypnotise’ ourselves daily with false beliefs or disempowering suggestions, such as “I’ll never be successful”, “I can’t….”, “I’m not good enough”, “I’m so fat”, “I’m not worthy”, “It’s impossible for me to quit smoking”, “I can’t sleep” and so on.
Our thoughts and self-talk or the language we use to communicate, are energy. They have power, and these form habits and patterns of behaviour.
To make powerful changes in our life, we must become conscious and aware of our thoughts and most especially, our ‘self-talk’.

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation which has been likened to ‘day dreaming’ or a ‘timeless feeling’, like the space we experience just before falling asleep. For example, have you ever become totally involved while watching a movie or driving on a familiar route, and when you arrive at your destination, you don’t quite remember part of the journey? These are all common examples of going into or being in a state of hypnosis.
As you enter into hypnosis, your conscious (or the analytic/critical) mind takes a well-deserved rest while your subconscious mind remains awake and receptive to new and empowering suggestions.
In this state, you are always in control.
Hypnosis has long been recognized as a direct and powerful means of introducing new and healthier beliefs, habits and behaviours which simultaneously create new neural pathways. It’s like creating a new foundation or blueprint for ourselves – a new neural map with more helpful and more empowering automated reactions towards how we handle our day-to-day stresses.
Hypnosis is completely safe and is medically approved and recognised by the Australian Medical Association as a useful and powerful complimentary therapy.
What is Hypnotherapy?
During hypnotherapy, the therapist communicates directly with the subconscious mind, getting to the cause or source of the issue, enabling the positive and lasting change you want to make. The power is within you!
As your hypnotherapist, my job is simply providing the expertise and tools to guide you and help you to find new ways to deal with problems and to change unwanted patterns of thinking and/or behaviour.

“Would I be asked to do something against my will?”
The answer is ‘No’. You will not do or say anything under hypnosis that goes against your will or your own beliefs. You are in control the whole time.
“Is a doctor’s referral necessary?”
Generally, not. There are, however, some presenting conditions that would require a doctor’s written consent. This would be determined when we speak prior to making an appointment.
“Can anyone be hypnotised?”
Most people can be – some more easily than others. The depth of relaxation that people reach in hypnosis varies. It is not necessary to achieve a very deep level of hypnosis to bring about a positive change of mind.
“How many sessions will I need?”
As every person is different, allow 2 to 5 sessions. This would be established at the initial consultation.
